Good, but you should also say WHY the mole is 6.022×10^23. The reason is it converts atomic masses (see the periodic table) to grams. It is basically a conversion factor. If you have a mole of water it is ~18g because oxygen mass is 16, and two hydrogens are 1 apiece for a total of 18. Moles let you work with useful masses, in this case, grams.
Nothing would stop you from making a conversion factor for pounds or tons or carats or whatever, but science is metric, and so we have the mole.
He really explained how to buy salami from grocery store very greatly. I always had difficulties asking 31.4 pieces of salami.
who else is here just bc of school
Make a new planet?
If anyone wondering that why that 6.02 * 10^23 is selected or why it is needed, So the answer is that by multiplying with this number to atomic weight of individual atom we get the value which lies in easily calculating ways for studies.
Ex. 6.02 * 10^23 H2O molecules weight is 18 u.
6.02 * 10^23 O2 molecules weight is 32 u.
So we get our answer in exact numbers, not in fraction and not in thousands or in decimals.
I just wanna say that I answered how big a ream of paper is before he told me… score another one for me.
Cute illustrations. What's a mole?
THIS VIDEO SUCKS!!!! WTAT?!?!? THE EXPLANATIONS ARE SO BAD?!?!? BROOO
took 3 minutes to get the point BRUH!!!!!!
You never mentioned how the mole is used with the Periodic table, that is an important factor in why water is 18 grams. 1 mole of Oxygen is 16 grams and 2 moles of Hydrogen is 2 x 1 gram = 2 grams. 16 + 2 = 18.
Brilliant explanation. Thank you! Now I understand. Please explain "Molar."
I love you 😘
can we get a mole of likes?
so glad i finally know how to buy salami at the grocery store.
(thank u for the video, ap chem has become easier :D)
How big would a box have to be to fit one mole of kittens? Assume each kitten is 1 dm^3 in volume
When i read the title i actually thought of the body mole 😂😂
1:56 – This video is helpful but the molar quantity still seems so random. 🙃
I like how when he tries to explain that 18.01 ml of water is 1 mol even the molecule guy is confused why this is such a random value 😂 Why not use something nicer & easier to remember like 10 ml or 100 ml of water? Heck, I'd be happy with an even 18 ml! Was this chosen because this the particular resulting molar value is just very good at measuring things (if so how is it better than other potential resulting molar values?) or is there a better explanation of the derivation that did not come from an arbitrary volume of water?
You had me at baseballs⚾ tqqqq
This is such a good explanation. I’m doing HSC chemistry and one of the things I revisited was the definition of a mole. My prof is usually well versed on practically anything but when I asked him this there was a surprising doubt. Not because he didn’t know of course, but it was hard to translate to words. This does that beautifully
The fact that I was tryna learn "Lorenzo romano amedeo Carlo avocadro" name but not the topic lol

Feeling sad for avogadro
the mole puns transcended my existence beyond the realm of the living, thank you ted ed.
Cooooool video. How many moles of Comic Sans Font Size 14 "o" oh's would it take to fill the internet?
I loved how Daniel Dulek narrated this episode. take love <3
I feel it's relevant to mention that the reason the mole is so important is because it's the conversion factor between amu (the mass number on the periodic table) and grams. That's why a mol of water weighs 18.01 grams and a single molecule of water is 18.01 amu
Wow, great informative video, had exactly what i needed. now i can by my salami without the clerk looking at me weird!
3:19 for the reddit wall street bets logo guy
RIP Avogadro:(
Amazing video. I'm almost a decade late to this party but really appreciate your effort!
in espionage, an agent who is undercover is a mole.
Lorenzo Romano Amedeo Carlo Avogadro, wow that is bigger than his number
the video is super interesting wonderful And magnificent I like the matter of chemistry It's like potions
Hi Ted-Ed, you said there were 23 zeros. You're wrong, they're were only 22 counting the zero in the beginning

1 guacaMOLE = Holly GuacaMole!!!, this would be a lot of AVOCADOS!!!!!….and the Italian man named AVOGADRO sounds like AVOCADO… LOL….
WHAT ????? How do you know how big the balloon is ????? Are you saying a tiny little toy balloon holds the same amount of gas particles as a large weather balloon ?????
I never knew Avogadro's full name 😀
So he never had to sign a autograph. 😁
This speaker is so funny 😃

i'm too late, it's already 6:03 AM here.
Avagardo is looking cute in this vid
