Hey simon
is IB syllabus good enough to prepare for PATs?
Sir i am from Bangladesh and i have A+ in mathematics and physics. Will i be able to apply!
Please make a video on books required for PAT .
Just wanted to clarify that the PAT isn't only used to see who gets an interview. After you're interviewed, Oxford adds up your PAT score and your interview score to help them select people to make offers to. If you barely made it through to interview and then did poorly on the interview, they are unlikely to give you an offer. Likewise if you smash the PAT, you would really have to screw up your interviews to not get offered a place. Notice how little grades and your personal statement matter to Oxford. They only use them to make decisions between mid tier candidates.
Hi!! I just finished my last year of secondary school in Spain and I covered almost all the content in the PAT but I'm not sure I'm well prepared so I don't know if it's better to take the test this year or take a gap year and then do it because I only have one month left to study for the PAT
There are so many past papers now; how do you go through your tests and correct your incorrect answers?
Hi! Can anyone recommend any resources to use to teach myself the Physics content required for the PAT that hasn't been covered in the AS syllabus? I'm struggling to know where to start :/
Still genuinely impresses me the 5 years on this is still the definitive video resource for helping prepare for the PAT. Very concise presentation of what the PAT is about and, obviously, great quality!
If you pass the test, but don’t get a place would they give a recommendation to other universities?
Yes you are allowed a calculator now! Just not the commonly used CLASSWIZ.
Hey iam from India and when I saw the past papers of Pat I found it terribly easy when compared to the IIT-jee which is an entrance exam for the Indian institute of technology . I could have easily cracked Pat but couldn't afford Oxford and hence never attempted it .
Hey! Have a question for you. For how many time should I be preparing for PAT?
BLESS YOU
I got a silver in this years uksmc (UK senior maths challenge), is that decent enough for the pat?
Can u tell me where I can get the answer to the previous year question paper
Were to go for solution of pat papers
I LIKE ASTROPHYSICS THEN MATH
WHAT SHALL I DO
What did simon get in his PAT?
Im 21 i wanna change careers. Ive. Always wanted physics and electrical engineering. Idk what to do 😭😭😭😭😭
it's that time of year again, boyos
ready to not see you lads next year
thanks for the vid, simon
When do you take the pat?
What was ur score ?
hi sir, can you suggest when to start preparing for pat
Say your grades for subjects other than your sciences and maths are not quite good. For example, I'm doing the IB and while my Economics and Literature subjects aren't getting good grades but my physics, maths and chem are all solid, would my performance at the interview and the PAT help to pull up my chances of being accepted?
Maths is better than physics by far
Help. I have to do this in under a month. Help. It's horrible. Help.
Edit: I did horribly 😂😂
I am currently studying in the 11th grade, i.e. Year 1 in the International Baccalaureate Programme from India, and I aim to study at Oxford from 2019. I would like to know when should I start preparing for the PAT and when should I take the test. Thank You
Hi Simon
Would you recommend learning the A2 Syllabus for Physics? Is it essential? Finally are there are Further Maths modules etc. you'd recommend us learn for the PAT as well?
Thank you
Hi! Simon- I am applying for Oxford 2018, and my UCAS form is due on 15/10 this year. I just want to ask, will I include PAT in my UCAS, or is it seperate?
Can you suggest any books which can be used to study for the PAT??
Hey simon, did my PAT today. It was abysmal. Sigh…anyway I wanted to ask, is there any consoling advice you could truthfully give me about my chances right now? Maybe some insight into their choosing process?
Hello Simon! Your videos are really helpful.
Keep it up!
One thing to ask you about Engineering Science that is there any written work to be submitted while applying for this course?
Hey ! Simon do I need to fill in the UCAS form, before sitting for the PAT
Hey ! Simon, I am from India and do I have any chance of studying physics at Oxford. I mean how do I take the PAT. I do not understand the application process. I 've a great affection for physics, now i am studying in the 11th standard, I am also planning to crack IPho.
Hi, I just wanted to ask if the Cambridge STEP exam was similar, as in would those questions would be helpful in practising for the PAT exam? Also, great video, I hadn't thought to memorise the formula sheets, so I'm so glad I found this.
Hi simon, I am currently undergoing the application process for Oxford and in my personal statement have talked about reading Richard Feynmans 6 not so easy pieces, do you think that is an adequately challenging enough book to be mentioning in a oxford application?
Hey Simon, I want to apply for physics in Oxford, but unfortunately, the amount of maths/physics I get is very low and having seen the past papers, I don't have much confidence because I don't understand most of them. (partially because I don't live in the UK and the exams I get are in my native language) What do you think about this?
is it too late to start revision for the pat?
Which books (and/or documentaries) would you recommend for someone who had only little Physics in school and wants to get a better overall eduction and see if that might be something they wanna pursue as a career in the future?
Any textbook recommendation? (Maths & Physics)
I'm applying to Oxford Physics this year…
Cheeky use of psi, psimon…
I had to…
Hi guys I just want to ask if there is any languages careers
hi simon, do I need to do futher maths at a level?
Hey simon I really want to go to university to study physics preferably Oxford or Imperial college London as I have achieved the grades A* in physics A* in mathematics and an A in chemistry but I am a bit hesitant as I really struggled and had to revise extremely hard to achieve these grades much harder than any of my classmates had to study to achieve similar grades in the same subjects. I am just scared that if I do go I will find the work too hard and would not be able to cope with the work load even though I am willing to work hard and physics is my passion I would be really thankful if you could offer me some advice on what to do and by the way keep up the good work your videos are very informative and entertaining you would make a good actor one day if you decide to take that career path as I for one love your videos and could watch them all day.
How is your PhD going Simon?
Hi Simon, I just wanted to ask if international students should write this exam aswell. Thanks for the video, extremely informative.
